Arabian Saluki Championship
The Arabian Saluki is one of the oldest hunting dog breeds in the world and has historically been associated with hunting and falconry in the Arabian Peninsula.
The Emirates Falconers’ Club, in collaboration with the Arabian Saluki Center, is organizing the Arabian Saluki Championship 2026–2027, the first championship of its kind in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The championship is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Ain Region.
The championship features qualifying and final races held across the United Arab Emirates. It aims to develop this traditional sport, encourage breeders and enthusiasts to participate, preserve the Arabian Saluki’s rich cultural heritage, and enhance the presence of Arabian Saluki racing at prominent local and international events.
