The Emirati–Japanese Falconry Programme was launched in 2024 as a pioneering cultural exchange initiative aimed at strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the United Arab Emirates and Japan through their shared falconry heritage. The programme brings together young falconers from both countries in a unique educational and cultural experience that promotes knowledge exchange, raises environmental awareness, and introduces participants to the authentic values and traditions associated with falconry.
Building on the success of its previous two editions, the third edition of the programme was held in the Remah area of Al Ain from 5 to 8 January 2026. The programme offered participants an immersive desert experience featuring practical falconry training, desert physiognomy lessons, heritage workshops, traditional hunting demonstrations, and a variety of cultural activities reflecting the rich Emirati and Japanese heritage.
More than just a training initiative, the programme serves as a platform for cultural diplomacy and cross-cultural engagement, promoting environmental conservation, sustainability, and education. It also aims to inspire future generations to preserve falconry heritage, protect natural habitats, and strengthen international friendships and relations through a shared cultural legacy that brings the Emirati and Japanese peoples together.
