In Zayed’s Footsteps
The legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – may his soul rest in peace – embodies the ideal Arabian falconer which is characterised by his strong intuition and extensive knowledge.
In his innate connection with nature, Sheikh Zayed embraced falconry as not just a pastime, but as a way of life and social interaction. He recognised the fragility of ecosystems and understood that without protecting them, everything can be easily destructed.
With a deep understanding of nature's language, Sheikh Zayed envisioned sustainable hunting — a dream that evolved into a reality at Dar Zayed.

Message from Secretary General
Ancient manuscripts, works and stone inscriptions proved that Arabs have known about falconry since 9000 BC. Man had begun to practice it as an act of hunting art. He relied on it to find the strength of his day and to live with the most difficult conditions in his desert environment.
The traditions of falconry were transferred through the generations. In doing so, a sport became a way of life, and created an interdependence between father and son, as well as among falconers themselves, who met – despite their differences – for the love of falconry. This heritage carries in it great values that we have made a method of our lives in our time today.
Falconry has taken its place in the state as a cornerstone of heritage, a combination of values and traditions and a rich cultural storehouse of the past, and we share our pride with our ancestors, our fathers and our children.
Falconry has long been a way of overcoming the difficulties that our parents faced in the past, and this makes our association with them even stronger.
